From scattered domains to one portfolio
Domain portfolios grow by accumulation. A subsidiary registers its own names, an agency registers a campaign domain, an acquisition brings many more, each at a different registrar, with different contacts and expiry dates. Nobody sees the whole, and that is when domains expire, forgotten names keep being renewed, and access is lost when someone leaves.
What consolidation brings
- One view of every domain, its holder, its use and its expiry date.
- One holder and consistent contacts, so that the company, not an employee or an agency, controls its names.
- One renewal calendar, aligned with your policy, instead of many separate deadlines.
- One point of access through the portal or the API, with the security settings you choose.
How Domgate handles it
- Inventory. We collect the domains from every registrar and entity, with their holders and expiry dates, and flag the ones at risk.
- Plan. We group the domains by registry, list those that need documents, a change of holder or a local presence, and schedule the transfers so that no domain expires in between.
- Transfers. We carry out the transfers registry by registry, following the procedure of each one, as our domain transfer page describes.
- Clean-up. With you, we decide which domains to keep, which to let go, and which to protect differently.
What you provide
- The list of your domains and of the registrars where they are held.
- The authorisation codes or the documents some registries require.
- The entity that should hold the domains, and who in the company approves changes.
Who it is for
Groups with subsidiaries in several countries, companies after a merger or an acquisition, and brands whose domains were registered over the years by different teams and agencies. Portfolio audit and consolidation is also one of the corporate services our reseller partners can offer.
Portfolio consolidation: frequent questions
Will our websites and email keep working during the transfers?
Yes, when the transfers are prepared properly. The name servers stay the same unless you decide to change them, so the domains keep working while they move.
Do all the domains have to move at once?
No. We plan the transfers registry by registry and by expiry date, so the portfolio moves in batches that suit your teams.
Can you bring back domains held by former employees or agencies?
With their cooperation, yes. Where the holder refuses and the domain reproduces your trademark, a recovery procedure may be needed.
