Trademark search report

A trademark search report lists the earlier trademarks that are identical or similar to the name you plan to use, so that you know the risks before you adopt it or file it.

Knowing what is already there

Filing a trademark does not tell you whether someone else holds an earlier right. Many offices do not search for earlier marks themselves: their owners oppose the application later, or take action once the name is in use. A search before you commit to a name costs far less than a change of name.

What the report covers

  • Identical marks in the registers of the countries you choose, in the classes of your goods and services.
  • Similar marks: names that look or sound alike, or that have a close meaning, in the same or related classes.

Why it matters

A conflict found before the launch is a choice; found after, it is a dispute. The report tells you what the risks are before you file.

How Domgate handles it

We run the search in the registers of the countries you target, through our network of trademark attorneys where local knowledge is needed, and review the results. The report lists the identical or similar earlier marks found in the classes you need, and tells you what the risks are. If you go ahead, the same team can file the application through our trademark registration service and register the domains.

We delete the entries of this form 36 months after we receive them.
