Transfer your favorite ccTLDs

• Check the expiry date. A domain renewed within 45 days of its expiry date and transferred in that same period may lose the renewal year. A domain restored after it expired cannot be transferred for 60 days.
• Check the age of the registration. A transfer requested within 60 days of the initial registration may be denied by the registry.
• Unlock the domain and get the authorisation code from the current registrar when the registry uses one. Most European and Asian ccTLDs do: .de, .cn, .kz, .tw, .vn and .ng all work with an authorisation code.
• Make sure the administrative contact can be reached. Several registries send a confirmation to the current contact and cancel the transfer without an answer.

This is where country code domains differ from generic ones. The procedure is written on each extension page, in the Transfer section. A few examples, taken from our sheets:

• .fr: authorisation code, then a confirmation by the holder.
• .sa: authorisation code plus a verification code sent to the current administrative contact.
• .th: an application form together with the authorisation code.
• .eg: a DNS template, an authorisation letter and the proof of the rights used at registration.
• .com.br: a notarised document from the holder.
• .ar: the local identification number of the holder.
• .jp: handled case by case, on request.

Our account managers know these procedures and prepare the documents with you before anything is sent to the registry, so that the request goes through the first time.

• 1. Request. You order the transfer in your account or through the API, with the authorisation code or the documents the registry asks for.
• 2. Eligibility check. We check the registry rules: local presence, restrictions on the holder, documents. If the extension requires a local presence and you have none, we add our local presence service to the order.
• 3. Confirmation. Where the registry asks for it, the current holder confirms the transfer by email or by signing a form.
• 4. Processing by the registry. Automated for extensions such as .de or .fr, a few hours to a few days for the others. The processing time is on each extension page.
• 5. Done. The domain appears in your account with its contacts and DNS. You manage it like any other Domgate domain, with the same API.

When the domain changes hands at the same time as it changes registrar, the registry and Domgate need an authorisation from both the current holder and the new one. Our registration agreement describes the obligations of each party. For restricted extensions, the new holder must meet the local rules or use our local presence service.

A registry or a registrar may deny a transfer in case of a dispute over the domain, a court order, evidence of fraud, unpaid fees, or when the time limits above are not met. Domgate may also decline a transfer that does not comply with the rules of the extension. We tell you before you pay.

Registrars and brand owners who move hundreds of country code domains at once send us the list; we group the domains by registry, tell you which ones need documents or a local presence, and plan the transfers so that no domain expires in between. You then manage the whole portfolio from one account and one API.
