A local presence is required to hold a .AF domain. Only organisations can be holders, not individuals. For the company or VAT number, the rules shown on the .AF page say: Yes, company registration number + Passport number. Prior rights are required: the name must match a right of the holder, such as a trademark or a company name. The application needs: Copy of Afghanistan Investment Support Agency (AISA) and copy of passport.
A .AF domain is registered and renewed for 1 to 5 years. Registration takes 24 hours. After the expiry date, a domain can still be renewed late: 14 days. A deleted domain can be restored. A domain can be deleted before its expiry date.
To transfer a .AF domain, the rules shown on the .AF page say: email. The domain does not need to be unlocked first. The transfer does not change the expiry date. Supporting documents are required for the change of holder.
