A local presence is required to hold a .COM.BR domain. Individuals and organisations can both be holders. For the company or VAT number, the rules shown on the .COM.BR page say: CNPJ number (local company registration number). No prior right, such as a trademark, is needed.
A .COM.BR name can have 2 to 26 characters. Internationalised names (IDN): à, á, â, ã, é, ê, í, ó, ô, õ, ú, ü, ç. Before registration, the rules shown on the .COM.BR page require the name servers to be ready: for the registration of a domain to be carried out, at least two DNS servers are required to respond with authority for the requested name with at least 1 valid A record.
A .COM.BR domain is registered and renewed for 1 to 10 years. Registration takes 24 hours. There is no late renewal period: a domain must be renewed before its expiry date. Restoration after expiry: within 14 days after expiry. Early deletion: Yes (notarized document required).
To transfer a .COM.BR domain, the rules shown on the .COM.BR page say: Notarized document required. The transfer does not change the expiry date. The holder is changed through a manual procedure. Documents for the change of holder: Yes, Notarized document required.
