About .ee

.EE is the country-code domain extension of Estonia, managed by Eesti Interneti Sihtasutus (EIS). No local presence is required: holders based in any country can register. On other considerations, the rules shown on this page name this extension: No local presence is required: companies and private persons from any country can register a .ee domain name, with no Estonian ID or address (details in the rules on this page).

Domgate also offers 2 second-level extensions under .EE, such as .COM.EE and .CO.EE. An application form is needed.

With Domgate, a .EE domain costs €25 a year, at registration and at each renewal. Domains are registered and renewed for 1 to 10 years. After the expiry date, a domain can still be renewed late: D1-D15. Restoration after expiry: D16-45 (afterwards put in auction). Registration is completed within 24 hours. A domain is transferred with its authorisation code (authcode), obtained from the current registrar. Internationalised names (IDN), with accented or non-Latin letters, are accepted. A domain can be deleted before its expiry date.

Other general considerations

Other considerations
No local presence is required: companies and private persons from any country can register a .ee domain name, with no Estonian ID or address. The administrative contact must be a natural person: the registrant's legal representative or a person authorised in writing (a private person can be their own administrative contact). It does not need to be in Estonia. The registrant's identity is verified: the application is signed with an Estonian ID card, Mobile ID or another e-identification tool accepted by EIF (an e-Residency card counts), signed by hand in front of the registrar, or confirmed by paying the fee by separate bank transfer from an account in the name of the registrant or of its administrative contact. Registrant needs to accept the terms and conditions of the Estonian Registry (the .ee Domain Regulation). The Domain Name may only contain numbers (0-9), dashes and letters, including the Estonian letters õ, ä, ö, ü, š and ž (IDN, since 13 July 2011). * Domain Names with capital and lowercase letters are not differentiated between. * A Sub-domain may not begin or end with a dash; also, it may not contain a dash simultaneously as the third or fourth symbol. * The minimum length of a Sub-domain is one symbol and the maximum length is sixty-three symbols. Name servers are not required to register; name servers that are given must work. DNSSEC is available. Whois: the name and e-mail of a private person are published only with their consent; for a company, the name, registry code, phone number and the names and e-mails of the administrative and technical contacts are public. Early deletion is possible via a signed letter from registrant.
